” Disco is the Thing Today” THE METERS

The Meters had a prediction back in 1976 when they released this single. At the time many ” Disco” flavored singles were making their appearance in the Top 100. Johnny Taylor, Andrea True, The Bee Gees, Walter Murphy . So they put this together and called it how they saw it ” Disco is the Thing Today” If there is a stereotypical Disco sound that can be used as a Parody the Meters capture it perfectly in their hook. The continuous opening and closing high hat and the string hits they’re all there. The 7 inch version gives you too much of the cheese and does not allow the track to fully develop into a “listenable’ song. The 12 inch allows you to enjoy the non-cheesy parts more. After a The Meters started in New Orleans in 1967 and have toured with such talents as The Rolling Stones, and have been a studio band for such artists as Dr. John, Paul McCartney, Robert Palmer, and Patti Labelle. The original Meters disbanded in the late 70’s.
