D.D. Sounds – Cafe

” Cafe” by DD Sounds easily makes any Disco DJ’s Top 10 List ( I prefer the vocal version) The 15 minute ” A ” side of one of the most iconic Disco records ( and covers) of the late 70s has always been a Miami Disco Classic. In one of it’s album versions the track begins with the scratching ” Wah Wah” sound ( a unique effect, mimicking the human voice ) popularized and stereotyped in the 70s. The percussion kicks in and builds up slowly followed by the now popular Chant ” Cafe, Cafe,Cafe” The initial release of the album to local DJs was an instrumental version , but later vocal was added probably to appeal to radio. The original vinyl pressing are still very much in demand by collectors of this genre. Although any true DJ of the era should easily have 2 copies in their collection. The group had various other tracks released with ” Disco Bass ” coming second in popularity.
“D.D. Sound” or “Disco Delivery Sound”was formed by La Bionda brothers. This group of studio musicians and vocalists were based out of Munich ,Germany they released all their material on the Italian label, Baby Records . La Bionda responsible for numerous Disco Hits were brothers Carmelo and Michelangelo La Bionda, who are considered the inventors of the ITALO DISCO genre .
